At PageGroup we regard corporate responsibility (CR) not just as an obligation, but a commitment to the causes and practices we firmly believe in. We have reported our corporate impact since we were publicly listed in 2001. The Corporate Responsibility Report details the key initiatives we focused on in 2011 to improve our corporate impact and helps us to share our experiences with our people, our shareholders and the broader community.
We believe CR requires a long-term approach and are committed to engaging closely with stakeholders, in order to understand their needs and issues, set achievable targets and implement plans to improve processes over time. CR is vital in both good and bad economic conditions. However, ongoing economic uncertainty in 2011 has meant that our initiatives are more important than ever, so I am extremely proud to announce that over the past year our people gave up more of their own salaries through payroll giving schemes to help our local communities.
We appreciate that as a recruitment company we are never going to have a major impact on the environment, however we believe that if our people can make small changes in their everyday activities, then together we can make a difference. CR is an ongoing journey and while we have made good progress to date as a global company, it is important that we continuously look for new ways to go that extra mile for our customers, to develop our people, and to support the local communities in the countries in which we operate.
